Okrayan to the max

Kudos to Edwin Lacierda and Joey Salgado for their funny albeit risqué exchange in gay-speak over the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the Vice President’s True State of the Nation Address (TSONA).

In reaction to the VP’s TSONA which was very critical of the administration and which tried to debunk the SONA, Lacierda quipped charot, which in gay lingo means nonsense.

Not to be outdone, Salgado retorted with a string of gay words that would make Google’s and Facebook’s translation software go bonkers. Said Salgado:  “Imbey ang fez ni Secretarush dahil trulalu ang spluk ni VP.  Pero ang SONA ng Pangulo, chaka ever sa madlang pipol dahil hindi trulalu.”

A friend from the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community roughly translated the above this way:   “The face of the secretary shows agitation because the speech of the VP was true. But the President’s SONA was ugly as seen by the masses because it’s not true.”

The wordplay between Lacierda and Salgado would have been hilarious had they been delivered in Zirkoh or any other stand-up comedy bar with a preponderance of gay skits.

But the two gentlemen, ehem ehem, seemed to have forgotten that they are representing the two highest officials of the Republic of the Philippines – President Simeon Benigno Aquino III and Vice President Jejomar Binay.

But we’re not here to stop Secretary Lacierda and Mr. Salgado from their  okrayan (dissing one another).  Just a friendly reminder  that the joke is on them and that’s trulalu and not charot. –End-
