Las Vegas, Nevada
has emerged as the No.1 US city for vacationers on a tight budget, according to
CBS News which cited a survey that took into account airfare, lodging and
dining expenses.
Rounding up the No.
2 to No. 10 spots, in this order, are Jacksonville, Orlando, Kansas, Detroit,
Albuquerque, Grand Rapids, Salt Lake City, Memphis and Denver.
CBS (http://www.cbsnews.com/media/ 10-most-affordable-vacation- cities-in-the-u-s/9/)
says that if vacationers leave Las Vegas with lighter wallets, it’s due to
their having one game too many at its No.1 attraction – the casinos.
But Las Vegas
definitely crawls with deals like inexpensive buffets, hotel and show packages
and the cheapest airfare of all the US cities surveyed, it adds.
Jacksonville,
Florida scored well in all categories, “but this city had the lowest overall
hotel prices out of any of the destinations on our list,” said CBS of the
fishing excursions and paddle boarding mecca.
In No. 3 was
Orlando, Florida made famous by its theme parks like Disney, Universal and Sea
World. “The airfare and transportation costs were some of the best… just make
sure you don’t blow your budget on food and drink,” said CBS.
“The many costs of
taking a vacation will put a stress on most people's finances, but where you
actually choose to go can be what really makes or breaks your travel
budget.” -end-
